Manufacturing Optimisation
Major fluctuations in demand, the diversity of products, and customer demands for flexibility, availability, and deadlines are some of the many factors that make it increasingly difficult to optimise production planning. Most software in the market tends to focus on production management, and rarely offers optimisation modules that are able to take into account constraints concerning the business, and specific company requirements.
For production planning, Eurodecision develops custom optimisation modules which factor in all our customers' specific business requirements. This software is usually integrated into the company's existing information system.
The number of potential applications is vast. Here are examples of some manufacturing projects, at various levels:
- At the strategic level: sizing of production units
- At the tactical level: optimisation of power plant operations, and maintenance shutdown schedules for production plants
- At the operational level: optimisation of the load calculation in an aluminium foundry
| The mixing problem - the mixing together of several raw materials in order to obtain a finished product meeting composition and quality constraints - is well known in operational research. It is applicable to industry (e.g. aluminium foundries) as well as to the agri-foodstuffs sector (e.g. cattle feed). | |
Eurodecision's experience in production optimisation also covers services and transportation, for example:
- maintenance scheduling for aircraft or tramways
- optimisation of the aircraft allocation for commercial flights, with maintenance constraints and their potentialities
- optimisation of vehicle fleet management, etc.
Eurodecision has developed numerous such applications, mainly for large corporations and including Air France, Alcan, Alcatel, Alstom, DCNS, EDF, Lear, PSA, RATP, Renault, and SNCF.
