  • describe the solutions provided by optimisation and decision support to resolve them
  • review optimisation technologies since 1947
  • review optimisation problems resolved by our teams in various industries


This course is intended for decision-makers using either decision-support systems or their results.

By the end of the course, participants will have a good idea of the technological developments in optimisation and decision support systems. Participants will also be able to recognise optimisation-related problems within their company.

Morning:

Operational research and decision support in order to improve a company's processes
10:45 - 12:15
Decision support: Technological developments since 1947


Afternoon:
13:45 - 16:45 Presentation of four of the following case studies:

  • Managing strategic and tactical decisions in a supply chain
  • Daily/weekly workload coverage and creating schedules
  • Building staff schedules
  • Production planning
  • Positioning tasks on machines
  • Mixing problems: food formulas and applications to finance
  • Calculating furnace loads
  • Optimising lorry loading
  • Optimising vehicle rounds with time windows

Course Trainers
This course is led by Denis Montaut, Eurodecision Chief Executive Officer, and Eric Jacquet-Lagrèze, Eurodecision Chairman. They are recognised experts in operational research, and were previously professors and researchers at Paris Dauphine University.
